Raigyne Moncrief's Late Heroics Boost LSU Over NC State

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands — A smile bigger than the island lit up the hallway just outside the visiting locker room Saturday afternoon. There was no hiding it. LSU’s Raigyne Moncrief was happy beyond belief, and her heroics inside the University of the Virgin Islands gym a few minutes earlier were the reason why.

At the time, all the Lady Tigers needed was a bucket, really anything, to send their game with North Carolina State into overtime. Moncrief had other plans.

Instead of taking the clear path to the basket to tie the game with a layup, the junior starting guard dribbled the ball past half court and let it fly from deep.

Nothing but net.

LSU 59, N.C. State 58.

Moncrief isn’t known for shooting 3-pointers. In fact, that was her first all season and only the second in her career. But the final three of her 13 points was the difference to close out the 2016 Paradise Jam with a moment she will never forget.
