Three GLIAC Teams Earn Bids To NCAA DII Men's Basketball Tournament
Northern Michigan, Ferris State and Parkside will be in the field of 64 that will compete in the 2023 NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship.
Three GLIAC teams -- Northern Michigan, Ferris State and Parkside -- are among the field of 64 that will compete in the 2023 NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship, the NCAA Division II Men’s Committee announced late on Sunday evening.
Hosted by No. 1 seed UIndy, all Midwest Region first round games will be played on Saturday, March 11 at the home of the Greyhounds, Nicoson Hall, in Indianapolis.
Newly-crowned GLIAC Tournament champion Northern Michigan (24-7) was awarded the Midwest Region's No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 Hillsdale (23-6) at 7:30 p.m.ET
Ferris State (23-8) earned the No. 6 seed and will meet No. 3 Ashland (22-9) in the first round at 12 p.m. ET. The Bulldogs defeated the Eagles, 75-69, earlier this season on Nov. 23 at the Ferris State Thanksgiving Classic.
GLIAC Regular Season champion Parkside (21-8) will serve as the No. 7 seed and will take on second-seeded Missouri-St. Louis (21-10) at 2:30 p.m. ET
The eight regional champions will advance to the quarterfinals in conjunction with the 2023 NCAA Division II Men’s Elite Eight. The quarterfinal, semifinal and championship games will be conducted at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana, March 21, 23 and 25.
