Hofstra University Men's Basketball Schedule 2023-2024: What To Know
The Hofstra men’s basketball team has seen success under head coach Speedy Claxton, and the bar is set high heading into his third season in charge.
The Hofstra men’s basketball team has become a perennial threat in the Coastal Athletic Association.
The Pride shared the CAA regular-season title last season with Charleston, but Hofstra claimed it outright in 2019 and 2020. In 2016, the Pride shared the honor with UNC Wilmington.
Hofstra sealed the 2022-2023 co-championship with an 11-game winning streak just before the conference tournament (Hofstra and Charleston both were 16-2). The Pride earned the No. 1 seed for the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship but fell to UNCW in the semifinals, 79-73.

Falling short didn’t end Hofstra’s season, but the Pride had to settle for a spot in the National Invitation Tournament, where they lost to Cincinnati in the second round (79-65).
Hofstra finished the 2022-2023 campaign with a 25-10 record, and nine players from last year’s roster are back this season.
A pair of Hofstra guards—graduate Tyler Thomas and junior Darlinstone Dubar—received All-CAA recognition in the preseason polls with a first-team nod and honorable mention, respectively.
Last season, Thomas started all 35 of Hofstra’s games and averaged 16.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game, while Dubar contributed 10.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and an assist. They were No. 2 and No. 3 in scoring for the Pride behind decorated senior Aaron Estrada, who was the CAA Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.
