The Campbell men’s basketball team is set to make its debut in the CAA. Here’s a look at the schedule.
The Campbell men’s basketball program is ready to begin a new era and will debut this year in the Coastal Athletic Association.
Leading the team into the CAA will be sophomore guard Anthony Dell’Orso, who hails from Melbourne, Australia, and finished last season as the Big South Freshman of the Year. He averaged 12.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game last season.
Dell’Orso and the Camels will have some things to prove in their new conference, as Campbell was tabbed as the No. 12 team in the recent 2023-2024 CAA Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll.

The College of Charleston, which won the 2023 CAA championship, earned the top spot in the 14-team poll. Last year, Charleston and Hofstra shared the regular-season title by going 16-2 in conference play. Hofstra is No. 4 in the preseason rankings.
The was some additional love for the Campbell, however, with Dell’Orso being named to the All-CAA preseason second team.
The Camels make the move from the Big South Conference, where they finished in the bottom half of the 10-team conference standings last season. They closed the 2022-2023 campaign with an overall record of 16-18 and a conference mark of 8-10.
Despite only earning the No. 7 seed for the 2023 Big South Men’s Basketball Championship, the Camels rolled through the bracket and nearly won it all, falling short to UNC Asheville in the title game, 77-73. Campbell led by as many as 14 points in the second half against Asheville.

When Is The CAA Men’s Basketball Tournament?
The 2024 Jersey Mike’s CAA Men’s Basketball Championship will be held March 8-12 at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C.
The winner will earn an automatic berth into the Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.
When Is The 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship?
The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. The NCAA Tournament. March Madness. No matter what you call it, March belongs to college basketball.
Selection Sunday, which will fall on March 17, is the day the 68 teams for the postseason bracket are announced.
The First Four will kickstart The Big Dance on March 19-20, with eight teams (the four lowest-seeded automatic qualifiers and the four lowest-seeded at-large teams) battling for the opportunity to compete in the main 64-team bracket. This will take place in Dayton, Ohio.
The road to the national championship will continue with the opening round of play (Round of 64) across eight locations on March 21-22. Those same venues will host the Round of 32 on March 23-24.
On March 28-29, four new locations will welcome teams and fans for the Sweet 16 (regional semifinals), which will be followed by the Elite Eight (regional finals) on March 30-31.
The 2024 Final Four (national semifinals and national championship) will be held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on April 6 and April 8, respectively.
