Washington State Women's Basketball Historic Week Continues In Cancun
A day after WSU Women's basketball trounced Maryland, the Cougars rolled against UMass at 2023 Cancun Challenge
Few teams have had a better Thanksgiving-Black Friday combo than the No. 24 Washington State Women’s basketball team.
A day after the Cougars blasted Maryland 87-67, WSU showed no hangover and led UMass by 24 at halftime en route to a 90-48 win at the 2023 Cancun Challenge.
Wazzou outrebounded UMass 42-28 and Bella Murekatete scored 13 and Eleonora Villa added 15 to lead the team.

The win over UMass comes on the heels of Washington State piling onto Maryland’s tough start to the season. The Terps dropped from the rankings for the first time in 13 years on Monday and saw the Cougars sprint away from them in the first game of the Cancun Challenge. Murekatete scored 17 points in the win as six WSU players scored in double figures.
Murekatete became the Cougar's all-time leader in blocks during the game as she tallied four against Maryland.
The 7-0 start by Washington State is the best since 1978-179 when the Cougars went 10-0.
