Purdue Northwest Men's Basketball Schedule 2023-2024: What To Know
Purdue Northwest is in a rebuilding year, replacing lost talent and hoping to finish better than predicted. Here’s a look at the 2023-2024 schedule.
The Purdue University Northwest men’s basketball program isn’t the most feared squad in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, at least on paper. Will that take the pressure off the Pride or make them prove otherwise this season?
Purdue Northwest (12-17 overall) finished in a three-way tie for seventh place in the GLIAC last year. The only team behind the Pride, Michigan Tech and Wayne State (all 5-13 in conference play) was Davenport (3-15).

Heading into the new season, the prognosis is even worse for Purdue Northwest, which was tabbed to finish last in the conference, per the 2023-2024 GLIAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
It makes sense, though, as the Pride roster is without its five biggest scoring threats from last season due to graduation, transfer, etc.
The top returning scorer for the Pride is Anthony Irvin, a senior guard who averaged six points and 2.9 rebounds per game last year. Another top veteran is senior forward Kalil Whitehead, who averaged 5.7 points per game and is expected to step up as a leader for the Pride.
Of course, when you lose talent, you must replace it, and that’s what sixth-year head coach Boomer Roberts has done. He went out and found six new additions for the team, which includes one freshman and three fifth-year seniors. The group comes from a variety of backgrounds, too—international, junior college, NAIA, Division II and Division I.
The three seniors are Brendan Temple, Cameron Alford and CJ Jackson. The other players are Jules Bikoy and Dalton Gayman, who played together at Stair Fair Community College, and Jackson Ware, a freshman from Australia.

When Is The GLIAC Men’s Basketball Tournament?
The 2024 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament will be held March 6-10 (March 6 (quarterfinals) and March 9-10 for the semifinals and final).
In 2023, the higher seed in each of the four quarterfinal matchups played host. Then, the highest remaining seed among the semifinalists was the host for the semifinals and championship. The plan is the same for 2024.
The tournament winner earns an automatic berth into the Division II Men’s Basketball Championship.
When Is The 2024 NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship?
The NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship takes place in March of each year.
Following the completion of the conference tournaments is a formal selection show, during which, the 64 teams for the national postseason bracket are announced.
The first 23 teams are the automatic bids given to the conference champions. The remaining teams are selected by a selection committee. The spots are distributed evenly among the eight Division II regions (Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West).
The road to the national championship will continue with the regional competitions – the opening round of play (Round of 64), Round of 32 and Round of 16 across eight locations – from March 16-19. Essentially, it’s eight single-elimination regional tournaments.
The eight regional champions are the Elite Eight for Division II, and they all converge on a pre-determined location for the final three rounds of play.
In 2024, this will take place at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana, from March 26-30. Specifically, the rounds (Elite Eight, semifinals and final) will take place on March 26, 28 and 30, respectively.
Nova Southeastern defeated West Liberty to claim the Division II men’s title in 2023.
