Mars Hill’s Maddie Gillie has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the twelfth week of the 2023-34 season, the Conference announced today.

Gillie, a junior from Rutherfordton, N.C., set a career-high 32 points and tied the Mars Hill school record with nine made three-pointers in Wednesday’s win over Tusculum. She also added five rebounds, two assists and two turnovers in the contest. Gillie then followed by netting her 1,000th career point and recorded over 30 points for the second consecutive game in the victory versus UVA Wise. She also added seven rebounds and a block.
