Texas A&M and Villanova wrap up day one in the Bahamas for a night time game to kickstart two weeks full of holiday college basketball tournaments coming live to FloHoops. The game began at 9:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 23 and was the fourth of many in the 2024 Battle 4 Atlantis Women's College Basketball tournament.

The winner plays No. 16 North Carolina tomorrow in round two of the winner's side of the bracket for a chance to move onto the Championship game.

The Paradise Island, Bahamas-based tournament hosts eight teams including No. 18 Baylor, Indiana, and Texas A&M.

Villanova Rallies Past Texas A&M, Wins 65-57 In Battle 4 Atlantis

Villanova rallied from an early deficit to defeat Texas A&M 65-57 in the Battle 4 Atlantis Women's Tournament on Saturday, advancing to face No. 16 North Carolina on Sunday. 

Texas A&M came out strong in the first quarter, racing to a 14-4 lead as Villanova struggled to find its offensive rhythm, missing key shots and failing to score for much of the opening 10 minutes. But the Wildcats responded in the second quarter, outscoring the Aggies in the first four minutes to cut their lead to just five points.

Texas A&M’s Coulibaly stopped the momentum momentarily with a three-pointer, but Villanova continued to battle back. The Wildcats capitalized on strong defensive rebounding, limiting the Aggies' second-chance opportunities, and closed the gap to two points late in the half. 

A clutch three-pointer by Burke brought the score to 26-24. Texas A&M then committed a turnover on the ensuing possession, and Villanova seized the chance, heading into halftime trailing by just one point, 27-26.

Villanova quickly took the lead early in the third quarter with two free throws from Bascoe. Texas A&M struggled with turnovers and fouls, allowing Villanova to seize control. Both teams exchanged fouls and free throws, but Villanova continued to push forward, ending the third quarter with a one point lead, 45-44.

The game remained close as fouls piled up for both teams in the fourth quarter, with each side reaching 16 total fouls midway through the period. However, Villanova’s offense caught fire, extending its lead to nine points with 4:15 remaining. The Wildcats were 6-of-7 from the field during that stretch, and despite foul trouble for Power-Cassidy, Carter, and Burke, they maintained their advantage.

Villanova’s Carter earned a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman Jasmine Bascoe added 15 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and tied her career-high with 3 steals. Despite a distinct height disadvantage, Villanova’s defense and rebounding proved crucial, helping them hold off the Aggies.

Saturday Nov. 23 On FloHoops: Garzon Earns Birthday Double-Double For IU Against Columbia In The Bahamas

In what was a close contest between a Columbia team trying to add another big win to their record and an Indiana team that was looking to build off of their recent win over No. 24 Stanford, the Hoosiers were able to pull out a dub in a close contest on Saturday afternoon in game two of the Battle 4 Atlantis Women's bracket.

Indiana used a late-game surge to defeat Columbia in the second game of the Battle 4 Atlantis Women's Tournament on Saturday.

Saturday Nov. 23 On FloHoops: Baylor Puts Up 15 Threes, Hits Triple Digits vs Southern Miss

After four great quarters of basketball between Southern Miss and Baylor—the Lady Bears come out on top of game one of the Battle 4 Atlantis Women's tournament.

Five Baylor players had more than 14 points today against the Lady Eagles and were 44% (15-34) from behind the three-point line, making that the most threes for them this season. Fontleroy and Andrews both tallied four.

For Southern Miss, Grayson and Evans led the points with 12, despite Grayson fouling out. 

Despite their quick start, the Eagles were unable to keep up with Baylor and will be looking for redemption against the loser of Columbia vs Indiana. Baylor will play the winner.
