Ball State Defeats Texas A&M 75-62
Ball State’s offensive success came from numerous players. Lachelle Austin and Madelyn Bischoff both put up 17 points each with Elise Stuck and Ally Becki right behind them with 12 a piece. They were able to get 12 points from players off the bench and overall maintained a high level of offensive success across the board.
For A&M, Aicha Coulibaly put up around a third of the Aggies’ points with 24 as she carried a pretty heavy weight for her team. Sahara Jones was the only other player to surpass ten points, with 13.
In the first quarter, Maliyah Johnson found plenty of success for Ball State as she put up six points on layup after layup. After the Aggies lead 9-5, Ball State really started to find their rhythm, largely due to Johnson’s success, and they took the lead and never looked back, finishing the quarter with an eight point, 20-12 lead.
From there, the teams really just took turns trading points till the end of the game. The problem for A&M was that every time they had found a defensive answer to a Ball State’s player’s success, someone new became the hot hand and quickly dropped a handful of points. Lachelle Austin came up huge in the fourth for Ball State, and they were able to truly bury Texas A&M and get a win at the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament.
