The first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament is in the books after several big upsets and all eight No. 1 seeds advancing to March 15's Regional Semifinals. 

In the West Region, No. 7 seed Chico State Women's Basketball, the only team to beat top seed Cal State Dominguez Hills, took down No. 2 seed Cal Poly Pomona in one of the biggest upsets of the day.

However, the highest-ranked team to be upset came when No. 8-ranked Concordia St. Paul, the No. 2 seed in the Central Region, lost to No. 18-ranked and No. 7 seed Southwest Minnesota State. 

Concordia St. Paul wasn't the only top-10 team to fall. No. 10 UT Tyler, the No. 3 seed in the South Central Region was stunned by West Texas A&M, 58-47. 

The semifinals will begin at 5 p.m. ET across the country on March 15 with five of the eight regional semifinals streaming live on FloCollege and the FloSports app.

Alaska Anchorage To Face CSUDH WBB In West Region Semifinals 

The West Region semifinals are set after Alaska Anchorage beat MSU Billings 69-66 in the first round to end the first day of the tournament. No. 4 seed Seawolves, and No. 16-team in the country, will now play the Toros, who beat No. 25 Azusa Pacific in Round 1. 

The most stacked region in the tournament has turned into the most surprising. The No. 7-seed Chico State won earlier in the day and Central Washington shocked Point Loma, 74-53.

Defending NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Champs Minnesota State WBB Advances

The 2024 champions Minnesota State will play No. 1 seed in the Central Pittsburgh State at 8:30 p.m. ET on March 15. Minnesota State beat Missouri Western 87-73.

Eastern New Mexico Women's Basketball Makes Program History 

For the first time ever, Eastern New Mexico Women's Basketball has won a NCAA Tournament game. The program beat No. 4 seed Colorado Mesa in the South Central Region. 

Eastern New Mexico joined the NCAA 41 years ago. 

They advance to play No. 10-ranked and regional host Texas Woman's University at 8:30 p.m. on March 15 on FloCollege.
