Another year, another Les Schwab Invitational in the books. The Hillsboro, Oregon tournament featured 3 of the top 5 ranked teams in the nation along with many schools in the local area. After seeing the tournament first-hand, here’s our all-tournament team.

G – Payton Pritchard West Linn (OR) Committed to Oregon
null

This kid can ball. Pritchard not only scored for his team, he made magic happen. Dishing out assists, running fast breaks, and keeping his team in check when games got tough. Against Jefferson, Pritchard didn’t exactly live up to the hype. He tallied 10 points, 3-7 shooting, 3 assists, 3 turnovers but had 3 steals. West Linn still came out with the first-day victory.

The second-day of the tournament, Pritchard showed out against a formidable Clackamas squad. Dropping 33 points, and racking up 9 assists. Ultimately leading West Linn to the semi-finals against Oak Hill.

Against Oak Hill (VA), Pritchard was the lone shining moment in a thirty-point loss. Scoring 12 points, racking 6 assists, and 2 steals.

West Linn placed fourth after losing to Garfield (WA) on the last day of the tournament. Even though Pritchard’s last LSI game was a loss, he still managed 15 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds.

Tournament average – 17.5 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds

G – Markelle Fultz DeMatha (MD) Committed to Washington
null

Fultz came to Les Schwab Invitational with a target on his back, but came to show out. The Washington commit showed why he’s a top recruit of the 2016 class.
In the first game against Westview, the DeMatha guard dominated. Shooting 10-15 for 27 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 5 blocks.

The second day Fultz stats weren’t as flashy but ball-hawked 7 steals while racking up 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Markelle Fultz lead DeMatha to a 15-point victory over Lake Oswego.

DeMatha faced their first true test against Garfield (WA) in the semi-final. This was by-far the most athletic game at the Les Schwab Invitational. Markelle Fultz showed-out posting an almost triple-double en-route to a ten-point victory over nationally-ranked Garfield. 20 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists, and 3 blocks were Fultz’s eye-opening stat line.

In the finals against Oak Hill (VA), Markelle Fultz tried to will his team to victory. Despite his 20 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals, Fultz couldn’t muster a win for the Maryland squad.

Tournament average – 20.25 points, 6.75 rebounds, 4.75 assists

G – Lindell Wigginton Oak Hill (VA)
null

This was a tough decision considering any of Oak Hill’s guards could have taken this spot. To us, Wigginton showed the offensive flash and stout defensive play. Throughout the tournament Wigginton was receiving alley-oops, guarding the opposing teams’ best guards, and crashing the boards.

Tournament average – 20 points, 2.25 rebounds, 4 assists

F – Roberto Gittens Foss (WA)
null

Roberto Gittens is the life and soul of the Foss team. Averaging a near double-double, Foss was a force down low and can pull the defense outside. In addition to winning the Slam Dunk Contest, Gittens lead Foss to a 2-2 LSI record. One of those victories was an opening day upset over Jesuit (OR). The most impressive performance out of Gittens came against Oak Hill. Playing against a crowded front court of Key, Kegler, and Sy, Gittens ended up with 22 points and 4 boards.

Tournament average – 20.5 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists

F – Alphonso Anderson Garfield (WA) Committed to Montana
null

Anderson was a man amongst boys. Owning a look of a sophomore in college, the Montana signee looked to make a final impression at the Les Schwab Invitational for his senior campaign.

In the first game of the tournament, Garfield completely man-handled the smaller David Douglas (OR) squad. Anderson grabbed 9 boards to compliment his 20 points over a blowout 105-59 win over David Douglas (OR).

The second day, Anderson kept his near double-double stat line along with 3 steals and 1 assist. Garfield would beat Central Catholic (OR) 92-69.

Against DeMatha, Anderson faced his toughest test. Leading his team with 22 points, Garfield couldn't muster a win against Fultz and company.

On the final day of the tournament, Anderson didn’t score as proficiently as the previous games but was still a force on the glass. Almost earning another double-double, the Garfield Forward ended with 8 points and 7 rebounds.

Tournament average – 16 points, 7.75 rebounds

Honorable Mention

Charles Jones - G David Douglas (OR)
null

Remember when Monta Ellis was by-himself on the Warriors? That’s how Charles Jones performed for David Douglas. Even though Jones had the LSI’s highest total ppg, he also had a poor turnover-assist ratio. He still managed to drop 31 on Garfield and be the lone shining star for David Douglas.

Matt Coleman – G Oak Hill (VA)
null

Matt Coleman can run Oak Hill’s offense, defend the opposing team’s best player and more. Possessing one of the highest shooting percentages of the tournament, Coleman was one of the many forces to fear on Oak Hill. Also, he had a sick dunk over Markelle Fultz in the LSI Final.

Any Guard for Garfield
null

Agosto, Davis, Brown, Nowell, and Fuller. This tandem of guards will outrun, out-rebound, cause mayhem on defense. There isn’t enough we could say about this squad, so we’ll keep it short. Arguably, one of the best backcourts in the nation.
