adidas Basketball Celebrates Jesse Owens
Did you know Jesse Owens rocked adidas spikes during the 1936 Olympics? Not many know about this because Owens himself was an icon for athletic achievement and social justice, not his spikes. Under much tension, Owens won four gold medals in the Summer Games. To celebrate this occasion adidas has teamed up with the family of Jesse Owens.

Adidas Basketball will release three commemorating models for Black History Month using Owens’ influence. The D Rose 6, Lillard 2, and Crazylight Boost 2.5 will all feature the “773” in gold-branding commemorating the iconic bib Owens wore. Each model features cream tones, dark brown contrasts, gold accents and signature details including Owen’s 733 bib number treated with gold foil on the tongue and a 1936 graphic-print in the sockliner. Set to release on adidas.com in January 2016, you can also catch these pairs on the feet of Harden, Derrick Rose, Damian Lillard and others on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and throughout February.
