Earlier, we featured the Mississippi State Bulldogs and adidas commemorating the “Game of Change.” In addition, to Stark-vegas adidas is gearing up Louisville and Nebraska in “Black History Month” inspired getups.
The Louisville Cardinals jerseys celebrate the achievement of breaking the color barrier on the court. One of the players, in particular, was Wade Houston. Who played for the Cardinals from 1963-66 and was one of the first three African-American players.
The jerseys are in an all-white and all-black makeup. The uniforms feature the throwback name and numbering from the Louisville’s iconic runs in the 80’s. One of the more defining features of the uniforms is the “Dunking Bird” on the shorts.
Nebraska honors Wilbur Wood, who was not only the program’s first black basketball player but one of the first in college basketball history. Wood played for the Cornhuskers from 1908 to 1910.
While the original jerseys did not have numbers, the 2016 rendition features block numbering in addition to the classic Nebraska “N” logo.
