KC Run GMC and Howard Pulley Dominate Day 1 of Jayhawk Invitational
Heading into a non-shoe sanctioned event weekend, you can find the best Nike EYBL team, 7-0 Howard Pulley, and the best Under Armour Association team, 7-1 KC Run GMC at the Jayhawk Invitational. The Jayhawk Invitational pits some of the best independent teams along with the aforementioned.

“The Jayhawk Invitational puts the best talent from the Dallas and Minneapolis corridor here in Kansas.” Said Eric Bossi, Director of National Recruiting for Rivals.

With that said, KC Run GMC and Howard Pulley both had their first games of the tournament tonight from Court 1 and 3 of Drive 5, respectively.

Run GMC went up against Assault Elite coming in as the heavy favorite. Run GMC did not let up on the gas in this one. Opening tip-off led to an alley-oop and Run GMC never looked back. At halftime KC Run GMC was up 63-22 behind Bol Bol’s 8 first half points. Run GMC has their “star” players but they share the ball really well. The final ended up being 90-38. Mitch Ballack (Creighton-commit) looked really well shooting the ball from deep.

“Our guys came out and shot the ball well and we shared the ball. Sharing is always important when running your game plan.” Head Coach LJ Goolsby on his team’s performance.

Ballack and Bol aren’t the only stars getting looks from top-flight college programs, Darien Jackson is getting some love as well. Jackson is getting looks from Kansas State, Nebraska, Kansas and some Pac-12 schools.

Over on court 3, the undefeated Nike EYBL Howard Pulley squared off against the Kansas Cagers. Howard Pulley opened the gates with fierce play from Gary Trent Jr. and Tre Jones. Tre was commanding the floor left and right. Trent was working inside and out. Also, Brad Davison (Dayton, Yale, Nebraska, Davidson) got in and drained some big shots and orchestrated well-executed assists to teammates. At half, the Pulley Panthers were up 50-18. The second half, Howard Pulley cooled down a little.

Howard Pulley only managed 19 second half points after 50 in the first.

“I don’t scare what the score is, we just need to learn how to execute.” Coach Harris spoke on his team’s second half performance, being outscored by the Cagers 20-19.

The final score was 69-38, advantage Howard Pulley.

Tre Jones, younger brother of NBA guard Tyus Jones, is getting looks at from Arizona, Duke and other high-level division 1 programs. The same is with the highest rated recruit at the Jayhawk Invitational, Gary Trent Jr.

You can watch Day 2 and 3 of the Jayhawk Invitational exclusively on FloHoops.com. Courts 1-3 of the Drive5 Sports Complex will be broadcasted and archived.
