Another day of basketball is in the books from America’s heartland. Again, the two darlings, Howard Pulley and KC Run GMC stole the show. It wasn’t just the 17u Run GMC either, it was their 15u squad as well.

KC Run GMC 15u is filled with talent that any 17u would die for. Zach Harvey and Jeremiah Robinson are the anchors to this team. Currently in the Under Armour Association, the KC Run GMC 15u team is undefeated with an 8-0 record. Both Harvey and Robinson have received offers from Kansas. Yes, those Kansas Jayhawks. When asked why are they not on the 17u team, Coach Goolsby had this to say. “I would like to have them on my team but it’s better now they stay on the 15u squad. You gotta keep them humble.”

The 15u Run GMC squad finished pool play on Day 2 with two 50+ point victories, 70-17 and 71-16.

Howard Pulley commanded their final two pool games to easy wins. 60-23 and 66-35. In the 60-23 win over the Omaha Celtics, Gary Trent Jr. had 18 points, Brad Davison had 8 and Isaac Johnson had 13. The other against NL Elite Blue, Brad Davison had 13, Isaac Johnson had 9 and Gary Trent Jr. had 8.

Howard Pulley’s opening bracket game came against a scrappy Dallas Showtyme Elite squad. The first half was closer than experts would expect, going into the half Howard Pulley only had a 44-33 lead. The second half was a different story. Pulley exploded with a barrage of threes, fast break buckets, and suffocating defense. The final ended up being 72-45.

KC Run GMC 17u team had somewhat of a close game to start off the day. Early in the game against the Kansas Rockets, Run GMC wasn’t hitting their shots and the Rockets were getting great looks. The second half was a completely different story. Ballack was hitting from deep, Bol was commanding the inside, and everyone else was making their shots. Ultimately leading to a 65-43 victory. Against IBTB, Run GMC jumped out to a huge lead early, and coasted to a 59-34 victory.

In their opening playoff game, KC Run GMC dominated their opponent 89-40. The mercy rule, if a team is up by 20 with 3 minutes left, has applied to all of their games.

Both Howard Pulley and KC Run GMC 17u teams will play tomorrow at 1020am on Courts 3 and 1 respectively. At this rate, they’re heading on a collision course in the championship.
