After a long week, we’re finally upon another weekend of AAU hoops. The Howard Pulley Invitational opening night has come to a close and it was filled with two juggernauts feeding in the 17u division.

Howard Pulley went up against Minnesota Ice but the Panthers were one fire. Howard Pulley was without the nation’s No. 2 SG, Gary Trent Jr. Trent Jr. withdrew to nurse a quad injury. Howard Pulley played well in an 81-57 victory. Brad Davison (Northern Iowa, Nebraska, Davidson) led all scorers with 17 points and Daniel Oturo (c/o 2018) had 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

The other juggernaut feasting this evening was KC Run GMC. The Kansas City squad was also missing a highly-touted player, Bol Bol. That didn’t stop the best team in the Under Armour Association from winning their first game with relative ease. At the end of the first Run GMC led 34 to 17 over the Minnesota Preps squad. That lead eventually grew and ended with a 127-70 blowout. Run GMC was led by their scrappy PG, Jacob Gilyard (Stephen F. Austin, UAB) and SG Mitch Ballock (Creighton Commit).

FloHoops will be back with Day 2 coverage of the Howard Pulley Invitational at 10am CT, May 7, 2016.
