The Best Performances from the Nike EYBL Regular Season

During several weeks of exciting Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) play, a number of athletes enjoyed breakout games this summer to gain national attention. Here are the most impressive all-around performances from this year's regular season.
2. 2017 6-2 PG Collin Sexton | 44 points, 10 rebounds, 12-22 FG, 18-20 FT
Sexton was the most prolific scorer in the EYBL—he set a league record by averaging 31.7 points per game. He showcased an impressive ability to get to the free throw line, and averaged 11.3 free throws per game. In his best performances of the season, Sexton dropped 44 points and hit 18 free throws in the battle for Georgia. He hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer to beat the Georgia Stars in a thriller.
3. 2017 6-6 SG Gary Trent Jr. (Howard Pulley) | 46 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 15-31 FG, 10-12 FT
Trent Jr. went off for an EYBL-high 46 points in an overtime win against the Southern Stampede to keep Howard Pulley unbeaten through Session 3. He was the third-leading scorer in EYBL play, and averaged 22.2 points to go along with 6.2 rebounds per game during the regular season. He led Division B champions Howard Pulley to a 11-0 start and a 14-2 record overall.
4. 2017 7-0 C DeAndre Ayton (California Supreme) | 23 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 blocks, 9-18 FG, 5-5 FT
Ayton was one of the most dominant big men on the EYBL circuit—he averaged 19.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per contest. His top performance was against Boo Williams, when he filled the stat sheet with 23 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 blocks. Ayton needs to work on consistency, but he is a very efficient big man—he shot 60 percent from the field and 82 percent from the line.
5. 2017 6-1 PG Markell Johnson (King James) | 33 points, 6 rebounds, 6 steals, 5 assists, 4 blocks, 12-19 FG, 9-14 FT
Johnson filled the stat sheet across the board in the regular season by averaging 18.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. He led King James to a wildcard berth in the EYBL Peach Jam, and was the catalyst to their attack—he set up teammates, scored, and grabbed rebounds. Johnson’s most impressive performance was against We All Can Go when he put up solid numbers in all five statistical categories.
6. 2017 6-4 PG Brad Davison (Howard Pulley) | 37 points, 9 assists, 8 rebounds, 13-22 FG, 6-7 FT, 5-7 from 3
Davison was the second-leading scorer for 14-2 Howard Pulley. He averaged 17 points to go along with 4.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists. He really broke out in the second half of EYBL play. His second half of the season was highlighted by a huge game against California Supreme—he finished with 37 points and was just one assist and two rebounds shy of a triple double.
7. 2017 6-2 PG Trae Young (Mokan Elite) | 36 points, 9 assists, 8 rebounds, 12-21 FG, 7-8 FT
Young was one of the best point guards in the EYBL circuit. He finished fourth in the EYBL in scoring, averaged 21.1 points per game and finished second in the EYBL in assists with an average of 7.2 assists per game. Young was the only player in the EYBL to put up a triple double during the regular season, and nearly made that twice against the Phoenix Family to help Mokan Elite to another win.
8. 2017 7-1 C Zach Brown (Nike South Beach) | 14 points, 26 rebounds, 7 blocks, 7-14 FG
Brown didn’t put up huge numbers offensively for Nike South Beach with just 6.8 points per game. What he did well for his playoff squad was rebound and play defense. Brown averaged 8.1 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game, which made him effective on the defensive end. His most impressive performance was when he collected the most rebounds of any player this season on the circuit by grabbing 26 boards against the Georgia Stars.
9. 2017 6-8 PF Jarred Vanderbilt (Houston Hoops) | 16 points, 21 rebounds, 7 assists, 7-10 FG
In the battle for Texas, Vanderbilt didn’t back down from the challenge of playing against the EYBL’s leading rebounder and block man Mitchell Robinson and Pro Skills. Vanderbilt made a statement, gathering 21 rebounds and dishing out 7 assists in a big win for Houston Hoops. He averaged an impressive 13.5 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game in the regular season.
10. 2017 6-4 SG Chaundee Brown (Nike South Beach) | 37 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 14-23 FG, 9-11 FT
Brown was one of the biggest stock risers over the summer, and led Nike South Beach to their first Peach Jam berth. He averaged 19.1 points and 6.1 rebounds to provide the spark that Nike South Beach needed to put them over the top and lead them to a Peach Jam berth in just their second year in the EYBL. His biggest game was in Session 4, when he went off for 37 points and 12 rebounds in a crucial win over Each 1 Teach 1.

Porter Jr. was one of the most dominant prospects of the Nike EYBL regular season, averaging 22.8 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. He led Mokan Elite to a 13-3 record, and was consistent, scoring 21 or more points in 11 of 15 games this season.
