NEW YORK -- When the Jordan Brand Classic rosters first came out, Syracuse had two players among the 24 in the game.

Now they will have none playing in the game.

Jalen Carey, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard from nearby Montclair (N.J.) Immaculate Conception, will miss the game with a broken middle finger on his right (shooting) hand. Darius Bazley, the 6-8 power forward from Cincinnati (OH) Princeton, previously announced he would enter the NBA G League instead of enrolling at Syracuse next season. He is officially listed as "Undecided" on the roster.

"Yeah, I'm real, real frustrated seeing these guys get out there and practice just now," Carey said Saturday after practice at the Nets' facility in Brooklyn. "I wish I could be there but I'm just taking it in and just enjoying the moment."

Carey joins a list of injured players who miss Sunday's game (5 p.m. ET, ESPN2). That group includes Zion Williamson (Duke), Simi Shittu (Vanderbilt) and Louis King (Oregon). Kentucky-bound wing Keldon Johnson is also a game-time decision with an ankle sprain suffered last week at the Geico High School Nationals. Carey and King are the two New Jersey players selected to the game, and now both will miss it.

Carey is out for eight weeks after breaking the finger while in the weight room.

"I was in the weight room," Carey said. "It was an accident, the weight fell on my finger. I was doing a jumping drill and I had a little dumbbell in my hand and I slipped on the mat. And when I slipped, the weight fell out of my hand and it dropped right on my finger."

As for Bazley, Carey got the news from his father after he had woken up from a nap.

"I was real surprised," he said. "I was sleeping when my dad called me. I thought he was playing with me at first. But I saw it on Twitter and everything. I was surprised but I wish the best for him. I don't wish no shame on him. I hope his plan works, but he's going to miss something big next year."

Bazley told FloHoops.com at the McDonald's Game he was looking forward to playing at Syracuse next season, but then made an about-face that same week and announced for the G League. He can make a maximum salary of $26,000 there, instead of potentially showing out at Syracuse and becoming a lottery pick. There were several dozen NBA scouts at the McDonald's Game and the Jordan practice.

As for whether Syracuse star Tyus Battle jumps to the NBA after his sophomore season, Carey thinks he may be gone, too.

"I think he's ready to leave," Carey said. "If he does comes back, that just helps the team even more with the stuff he's done. Frank [Howard], he's played well. With me coming in, Buddy [Boeheim], so if Tyus does stay, we're going to be good.

"But even if he does leave, I feel we're going to be good, either way."
