Newberry forward QuanDaveon McCollum has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played during Week 2 of the 2022-2023 season, the conference announced Monday.

McCollum, a senior from Clio, South Carolina, led the Wolves to a 3-0 record last week, which included wins over Converse (68-56), Clayton State (87-81) and Georgia College (81-67).

He scored 20-plus points in two of the three games, averaging 18.7 points for the week with 5.7 rebounds, an assist, 1.3 steals and 0.7 blocks per game. 

McCollum also shot 50% from the field, 66.7% from long range and 82.4% from the charity stripe for the week.
