Milton Doyle Stuffs Stat Sheet In Commanding Victory
ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands — At first, it looked like a quick breather. Then, it became a permanent spot. Milton Doyle sat comfortably between the Loyola assistant coaches for the majority of the second half Saturday afternoon, but he had no problem with it.
No, Doyle, the lone senior for the Ramblers, wasn’t in trouble. The coaches did get after him following a loss to Saint Joseph’s in the opening round of the 2016 Paradise Jam, but it was not extended punishment.
In fact, it was designed rest after he dominated to lead Loyola to a 78-53 win over Oral Roberts.
For 28 minutes, Doyle was the best player on the floor. He picked his spots to score 14 points while knocking down all three of his attempts from 3-point range. He used his athleticism to snatch six rebounds and push the break. He played unselfishly and got teammates easy looks for eight assists.
Yes, this was more like it for Loyola (4-1), which advances to the fifth-place game against Washington State on Monday.
