Beaverton's Jacob Estep Sinks Game-Winning Free Throw To Secure LSI Consolation Title

HILLSBORO, Ore. — Jacob Estep took a deep breath before walking back up to the free-throw line. So what if he had just missed the first one. So what if the game was on the line. There was no need, or time, to panic. All that mattered was the next one.

With 3.4 seconds left in the Les Schwab Invitational consolation championship, Estep drew a foul and was sent to the line to possibly help Beaverton break the 37-37 tie with Westview. This was a dream-like scenario for a kid who grew up attending this famed tournament.

The moment is never easy, however.

Estep rimmed out the first one, leaving all the pressure on the final free throw. But calmly, he went through his normal routine and rattled it home.

Beaverton 38, Westview 37.

Estep finished with a team-high 11 points to give the Beavers a 3-1 mark in the event and the consolation title over a league foe. None of his shots was more important than the last free throw.

Talk about a dream come true.
