Nike EYBL Session III Game Winners Steal The Show In Georgia
A game winner is nothing new at Nike EYBL. It’s part of what makes it the best circuit in the country. In fact, going an entire session without one would be rarer than it would be to see multiple heroic shots in a single day.
In Session III at LakePoint Sporting Community - Champions Center last weekend, there were five game winners, including three that were straight wild. Check them out in the order of the video:
Southern Stampede (GA) 54, MOKAN Elite (KS) 53
What’s the best way to beat the league’s only undefeated team entering Session III? How about a crazy four-point play at the buzzer to win by one? That sounds pretty awesome on paper, and it was even better in person. That’s exactly what happened when Southern Stampede’s Drue Drinnon took the inbounds pass and drilled it from the top of the key before nailing the free throw to hand MOKAN Elite its first loss of the season.
RM5 Elite (Texas) 65, PSA Cardinals (NY) 63
In what originally appeared to be a broken play, 2018 Flo40 wing Gerald Liddell improvised in stellar fashion with a nice move and bucket to give his squad a much-needed victory and end PSA Cardinals’ hopes for an undefeated session.
Team Melo (MD) 54, Team Penny (TN) 53
Brendan Adams sure didn’t hesitate when he caught the ball with the clock winding down. Full of confidence, he buried the 3-pointer while also drawing the foul to keep the perfect session alive for Team Melo (MD). Another four-point play? You cannot make this stuff up.
The Family Detroit (MI) 72, New York Rens (NY) 71
Although it was not a buzzer-beater like several of the others, Duane Washington Jr.’s deep 3-pointer with under 30 seconds remaining was just as significant. The Family Detroit had been fighting off NY Rens’ comeback gutsy comeback attempt in the final few minutes, and Washington decided to end it for good with a clutch shot.
BABC (MA) 77, Nike Team Florida (FL) 74
This was straight out of a movie script. Just when BABC was facing defeat or overtime, Shandon Brown took the pass off of a missed free throw from teammate Cole Swider and banked in the craziest shot of the season from near midcourt. Unbelievable.
