Shareef O'Neal: The Welcoming
No matter where Shareef O’Neal walked at Chaparral High School, a crowd followed. A picture here, an autograph there, escaping it was impossible. This was nothing new, though. This is the life of one of the top prep prospects in the country, the son of a game-changing Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame center, playing near his future home in Arizona.
As a 6-foot-8 forward, O’Neal’s game is rather different than his legendary father, Shaquille O’Neal, but he is making a name for himself with his face-up jumpers and smooth finishes around the rim. The Crossroads School (CA) star and 2018 Flo40 No. 27 prospect made sure to put on a show at the American Family Insurance Hoophall West in Scottsdale, AZ, in December.
Even if it was just for one weekend, the Arizona commit got a glimpse into the fan base and culture of the Grand Canyon State as a nice welcoming a few short months before calling it home.
