Hofstra University Women's Basketball Schedule 2023-2024: What To Know
Hofstra University Women's Basketball Schedule 2023-2024: What To Know
The Hofstra women’s basketball team has been moving in the right direction. Here’s a look at the Pride’s 2023-2024 schedule.
Calling the plays for the Hofstra women’s basketball team this season will be Danielle Santos Atkinson, who is entering her fifth season as coach. She has progressively improved her number of wins per season – 3, 8, 8 and 12, so she’s headed in the right direction.
Last year, however, Hofstra finished one spot ahead of last place in the CAA, topping only the University of North Carolina Wilmington during the regular season. Hofstra was 4-14 in conference play, while UNCW was 2-16.
Hofstra then bested UNCW in the opening game of the 2023 CAA Women’s Basketball Championship and went on to defeat North Carolina A&T, before falling to William & Mary in the quarterfinals.

The Pride, who finished the year with a 12-20 record, were the first No. 12 seed since 2006 to advance to the quarterfinals.
In the 2023-2024 CAA Women’s Basketball Preseason Poll, Hofstra was picked to finish 12th among the now 14 teams.
This year, the Pride will have a mix of returning talent and newcomers.
The list of returning starters includes graduate guard Sorelle Ineza, senior center Zyheima Swint, sophomore guard Emma Von Essen and senior guard Ally Knights.
Ineza (10 points per game), Swint (8.1) and Von Essen (7.5) were second, third and fourth on the team in scoring last season. Knights led the team in assists per game with 3.5.
Then-graduate student Brandy Thomas, a second-team All-CAA selection last season, led the team in scoring and rebounding.
Who will step up and replace Thomas’ production? Will it be one of the established standouts or one of the five new faces (three transfers and two freshmen)?
Here’s a look at the Hofstra University women’s basketball schedule for the 2023-2024 season.

When Is The CAA Women’s Basketball Tournament?
The 2024 CAA Women’s Basketball Championship will be held March 13-17 at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C.
It will come on the heels of the 2024 men’s event (March 8-12), as the conference and venue agreed to a four-year contract that will allow these championship tournaments to return each year through the 2026-2027 campaign.
The winner will earn an automatic berth into the Division I Women’s Basketball Championship.
When Is The 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship?
The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship will offer LSU the opportunity to defend its national title, won in March 2023 over Iowa, 102-85.
Selection Sunday, which will fall on March 17, is the day the 68 teams for the postseason bracket are announced.
The First Four will kick things off March 20-21, with eight teams (the four lowest-seeded automatic qualifiers and the four lowest-seeded at-large teams) battling for the opportunity to compete in the main 64-team bracket.
The road to the national championship will continue with the opening round of play (Round of 64) on March 22-23. The Round of 32 will take place March 24-25. The top 16 seeds will host the first- and second-round games.
Continuing with a tradition established in 2023, the Sweet 16 (regional semifinals) and Elite Eight (regional finals) will be held across two sites – Albany, New York, and Portland, Oregon. These rounds will take place March 29-April 1.
The 2024 women’s Final Four (national semifinals and national championship) will be held at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland on April 5 and April 7, respectively.
