Ferris State and Grand Valley State have one of the most intense rivals in NCAA Div. II athletics. In the 2023-24 basketball season, it extended beyond the GLIAC and into the NCAA Tournament when the Bulldogs advanced to the Elite Eight at the Lakers' expense.

The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) released its NCAA Division II preseason rankings, with Minnesota State Mankato topping the poll with 571 points and 20 first-place votes.

The 2023-24 campaign was a banner one for two of the premier programs in men's and women's Lone Star Conference basketball. With recent men's LSC powerhouse West Texas A&M advancing to the NCAA Div. II national semifinals, and Texas Women's University reaching the National Championship Game, LSC programs were in the mix for the top prize in the division.

Two GLIAC teams -- Grand Valley State and Michigan Tech -- are among the field of 64 that will compete in the 2023 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship, the NCAA Division II Women’s Committee announced late on Sunday evening.

After a regular season full of surprises, the GLIAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments are set to start, with the higher-seeded team in each game earning the right to host those games.
