Summer school provides a springboard into the fall semester for those who use it. For UNC-Wilmington guard Mike Okauru, a summertime course with NBA players and Olympians could have him poised for a monster 2021-22.

Just one week into the 2020-21 NBA season, the Colonial Athletic Association made an impact in the pros. 

RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston’s Grant Riller, a three-time Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) First Team selection, was chosen in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft, held on Wednesday night.

New dates have officially been set for the postponed Olympics. The 2021 Games will be held July 23-August 8, 2021.

While the Lakers and Clippers tipped off the NBA season with a must-watch game on Tuesday night, two days later and over 6,500 miles away from Staples Center, another highly-anticipated showdown took place in Auckland, New Zealand.

After a week in which many top NBL clubs traveled across the globe to face NBA teams in preseason exhibitions, everyone was back in Australia taking part in Round 3 action this weekend. 

It was a busy week in the NBL and also a busy week for the league’s two high-profile, teenage American superstars.  

It was the moment that basketball fans across the globe have been waiting for, as LaMelo Ball made his regular-season debut Sunday for the Illawarra Hawks. While the Hawks lost, it was a solid performance for the 18-year-old Ball, playing in his first regular-season game down under. 

Four Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball alumni—the Charleston pair of Jarrell Brantley and Joe Chealey, Hofstra’sJustin Wright-Foreman and UNCW’s Devontae Cacok—recently wrapped up play in the NBA Summer League.

Few leave Las Vegas winners. Former UNC Wilmington forward Devontae Cacok, on the other hand, hit the jackpot. 

In the NBA’s so-called era of the superteam, the 2019 free agency cycle should solidify an age of competitive balance rarely seen in the league’s history. Only fitting that Kawhi Leonard is at the epicenter.
